- Death Claims Aged Jackson Co. Resident
William Truett, aged 92 lacking two days, passed away at the home of his daughter, Frances Vaughn at Bond, Kentucky, on Saturday, April 5th, after an illness that lasted only one day. He was taken ill with a sore throat on Friday, the day before his death. Mr. Truett was born in Owsley Co., and when about six years of age his father moved to Jackson County.
At the age of 18 he married Lydia Cope. Thirteen children were born to them. Four have died.
Those who survive are A.F. Truett, Berea, Cinda Elam of Berea, Frances Vaughn, Lydia Vaughn and Tommy Truett all of Bond, John Truett of Peoples, James Truett of East Bernstadt, W.H. Truett of Etowah, Tenn., and Ellen Eichler of Hamilton, Ohio.
Funeral services were held on Monday at Annville where his grandson Billy Truett and Jimmy Dalton preached the funeral services. Burial took place at Annville.
There are 77 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and other relatives living.
Mr. Truett was a life-long member of the Church of God, a man of upstanding character, known by all for his loyalty, sincerity and integrity.
