  • Notes
    • Sarah Jane Phipps, daughter of Lee and Saphronia Hybarger, was born in Fountain county, Ind.; she died of heart disease at her home near Mecca, May 24, 1905, age 62 years. She was united in marriage to James C. Phipps Dec. 12, 1861. To this union were born twelve children, four of which - James H., Telsie V., Charley M. and Artie M. preceded their mother to the great beyond.
"Grandma" Phipps. as she was familiarly known, had been a resident of Sugar creek township for many years, and sudden death was a great shock to her many friends in this vicinity. She loved an exemplary life, being a hard-working, kind-hearted and affectionate mother and wife, always willing to make any reasonable sacrifice, or lend a helping hand in times of trouble and sickness. Deceased leaves husband. eight children, many relatives and friends to mourn the loss.
Those words: "well done thou good and faithful servant" can be applied to such noble women as Mrs. Phipps.
