- William Calvin Murray, 79, of Dreyfus Road, Berea, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014.
He was born January 9, 1935, on Blackey’s Branch in Clay County, Kentucky, the son of the late Robert and Amanda Wilson Murray.
Mr. Murray was a retired senior product technologist for the Kroger Co. After retirement, he worked as quality assurance manager for the Griffin Pie Co. in London, Ky., (now Little Debbie). He had a passion for farming and was particularly proud of his herd of registered black Angus beef cattle.
He was a member of the Mt. Healthy Church of God, Mt. Healthy, Ohio. He had served as a volunteer for the Cincinnati Boys Club, was active in the Central Turners Youth Sports Association and was a member of the Hilltop Athletic Club, where he served in many capacities. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who greatly enjoyed the outdoors. His grandchildren knew him as “the best Grandpa ever.”
Survivors include: his wife, Wanda Fay Lawson Murray; two sons, William Edward Murray (Cynthia) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mitchell L. Murray (Linda) of Berea; two daughters, Wanda Jane Murray of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lisa Lynn Murray of Georgetown; three sisters, Vida Jane Thompson, Bobbie Caldwell and Georgie Deaton; grandchildren, Laura Murray, Amanda Murray and Jenna Murray of Ross, Ohio, Jeren Mccluskey of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Leanna Hunter of St. Augustine, Fla., and Jeremiah Blankenship of Middletown, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Tyler Murray Ray of Lancaster, Madison McCluskey and Alexis McCluskey of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Michael Loyd Hunter of St. Augustine, Fla., Shayla Blankenship, Alishia Blankenship and Kylie Blankenship of Middletown, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Winston Lawson and Rev. Rick Witt officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
