- Rosary and vigil will be 7 p.m. April 11 at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene. Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. April 12 at St. Pius Catholic Church, Coeur d'Alene, with interment immediately following at St. Thomas Cemetery.
Constance E. (Connie) Smith, 82, Coeur d'Alene, peacefully took her final journey home on April 3, 2005.
Born Feb. 18, 1923, in Rosholt, Wis., to Nick and Mary Frydach, Connie was raised on the family farm. On Sept. 4, 1943, she married John Smith in Chicago.
After John's discharge from the Navy, they moved to the Inland Northwest, where they resided until moving to Alaska in 1959, living first on Adak Island and then in Fairbanks.
Connie retired from the Northern Commercial Company in Fairbanks in the early 1970s. In 1974, they moved to Spirit Lake, and in 1989, to Hayden.
Connie loved traveling, golf and entertaining friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Ron Wright, Ephrata, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Anke Smith, Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren Tammy and Gene Hyden, Post Falls, Brian and Terri Robinson, Leavenworth, Wash., Kevin Robinson, Wenatchee, Wash., Amanda Smith, Seattle, Nichole Smith, Anchorage, Alaska, Connor and Alexander Smith, Fort Worth, Texas; together with five great-grandchildren.
Connie is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta and Norbert Kosobucki of Wittenberg, Wis., Bernice and Eugene Kaye, New Berlin, Wis.; special friend Henry Komosinski, Hayden; sister-in-law Maryanne Frydach, Tampa, Fla., sister-in-law Edith Caragio, Lewiston; brother-in-law and wife, Jack and Gerry Smith; Tacoma, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1992, daughter Connie Lynn in 1973, parents Nick and Mary Frydach, and siblings Felix, Leonard, Sophie, William, Max, John, Ted and Della.
Memorials in Connie's name may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835, the Alzheimer's' Association, or donor's choice of charity.
