Death Of Fletcher Fairchild
Fletcher Fairchild died at the Territorial Insane Asylum on Sunday morning, the 22nd inst.,and was buried at Phoenix on Monday. Mr. Fairchild had been in failing health for two years past and had been gradually failing.
On August 16 he was adjudged insane and was sent to the asylum. He was elected sheriff of this county at the last election, but was never able to assume the duties of the office, though he qualified and was nominally sheriff until August 16.
He was a native of Illinois, but his life was spent in the west, and in every place he resided he had served as a peace officer. He came to Arizona from New Mexico about sixteen years ago, and nearly all that time held an appointment under the sheriff. He was a popular and efficient official and won a reputation as an officer who never let his man escape. Deceased was about 48 years of age and leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss.

She was step-mother to Frank Perry and Anna Pearl Fairchild children of her first husband John Fletcher Fairchild whom she raised after the death of their mother. With her husband John Fletcher Fairchild she had Catherine, Mabel Etta, Mary Helen, and John Fletcher Jr Fairchild Another daughter Madeline Fairchild was born after John Fletcher's death - her father is unknown, and then she had Stella Mae, Lewis Edmund, and Edith Wilma Hart with her husband William Chesley Hart.
