The Lord has called Jac home. He loved and served his Lord, always thinking of how he could help others. He and his famiiy were charter member of Crestview Christian Church in Decatur.
Jac was born April 28, 1926, in Peoria, IL, the son of Virgil and Vivian (Conner) Carrier. He married Esther Gritton on November 18, 1945, in Central Christian Church, Decatur, IL. He farmed for Howard Culp for several years, and then worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. before retiring in 1990.
Wondering what he would do with his time, he was confronted by John Henry Cain to join with other in working with Habitat for Humanity. Jac jumped at the chance to help build homes for needy people and enjoyed every minute. The camaraderie of that group was a joy to him as they worked together for others.
Jac, an avid sports fan, (Especially the Cubs) faithfully supported his children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's activities. He was a long0-time member of the MFHS Chain Gang and the "Duncanville" grounds crew. He had a love for the outside, mowing and trimming his yard and church grounds were among his most loved activities. His favorite task was tending his vegetable garden, especially growing tomatoes and sharing them with the ladies who live nearby.
He is survived by his wife; and daughters: Patricia (Charles) Ohlemeyer of Maroa; and Paula (Randy) Armstrong of Forsyth; son-in-law Richard Kaufman of Clinton; half-brothers, Dan Carrier of Arkansas; four grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren, as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all Doctors, Nurses and Staff of DMH who diligently supported Jac and his family during his illness.
He was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Lucille, and one daughter, Pamela Kaufman.
Jac will be always loved and long remembered.
