Funeral services for Janet L. Sims, 70, will be Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Baptist Church on Highway 54 in Florala, Alabama.
Evans Funeral Home in Florala is in charge of arrangements.
Janet "Jan" Sims went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born June 2, 1935 in Humboldt, Iowa. Jan married Jerry Denman Sims on May 25, 1958 at Luke AFB, in Glendale, Arizona. She was an active member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Florala. She enjoyed quilting and giving the finished projects as family heirlooms.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, John A. and Marvel Newbrough.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky (Donald) Owens and Lori Ann Fry; two sons, Jerry B. (Karen) Sims and Dennis W. (LeAnne) Sims; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers John M. and Larry A. Newbrough; three nieces and seven nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Gideon's International as gifts in Bibles and Testaments which can be made at www.gideons.org.
