Doris J. Bahler

SOUTH BEND - Doris J. Bahler, 82, of South Bend, passed away at 8:03 a.m. on Sunday, August 2nd, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mrs. Bahler was born on July 10, 1927, in Rensselaer, IN, to the late Ernest and Mabel (Scott) Nuss. She had lived in South Bend since 1950. On September 7, 1946, in Rensselaer, she married James W. Bahler, who preceded her in death on May 15, 1991. Her daughter-in-law, Marcia Bahler, passed away on February 17, 2009, and her grandson, Ryan Bahler, passed in March 1995. Three sisters and one brother also preceded her in death. Mrs. Bahler was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend and was very active with the Senior Bowling League at Chippewa Lanes. She enjoyed her volunteer work with Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary, was past president of the Ladies of the Elks, and was also past president of Speech and Hearing. Mrs. Bahler also enjoyed trying her luck at the casinos and gambling boats. Mrs. Bahler is survived by her three children, Gregory Bahler of South Bend, Lori (Craig) Trobaugh of Savannah, GA, and Nanette (David) Tschida of South Bend; and five grandchildren, Stephanie (Andy) Leed of Plymouth, Dr. Corey (Anne) Trobaugh of Franklin, Derek Trobaugh of Worcester, MA, Kristen Tschida of South Bend and Justin Tschida of South Bend; and three great-grandchildren, Garrett, McKenzie and Mason Leed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Dr. Robert Agnew, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. today, August 4th, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Doris J. Bahler may be made to the American Heart Association , 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674; to the American Cancer Society , 601 W.
