Notes - Death Comes To Mrs. F.D. Royce
Beloved Danville Church Woman Died At 2;15 o'Clock This Morning.
Many Danville People were grieved today when it became known that Mrs. Bertha Gritton Royce had died at 1:15 o'clock this morning at her home on the Shakertown pike about three miles from Danville.
Mrs. Royce, one of Danville's best known women, had been in failing health for several months. Although her death was not unexpected, it was received as a distinct shock to this community.
Mrs. Royce was one of the finest women in Danville's church and home life. A member of the Christian church here, she took an active part in the missionary society and other church affairs. She lived in Boyle county from the past five years, having come here in 1934.
She was born May 17, 1888, in Mercer county, Ky. Her marriage to Dr. F.D. Royce, prominently known farmer of Boyle county, took place June 15, 1909.
Mrs. Royce, besides her husband, is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W.E. Chadderdon, of Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. John R. Stock, of Louisville, and Mrs. D.C. Murphy, of Danville; one son, F. David Royce; and three sisters, Mrs. Holman Hogue, of Mercer county; Mrs. H.D. Ransdell, of Lincoln county, and Mrs. Hugh Ison, of Mercer county.
Funeral services for Mrs. Royce have been set for 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Christian Church. Dr. M.A. hart, the pastor, will have charge of the rites. Burial will be in the Harrodsburg cemetery.
