John A Hazelbaker. Muncie - John A. Hazelbaker, 77, of Muncie,
departed this life at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. John was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Oakwood Township, the son of Wilson and Elva Moore Hazelbaker. He married Helen Van Scyoc on May 29, 1944 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by a son, John (Tammy) Hazelbaker of Fithian; four daughters, Helen (Mike) Welch of Muncie, Peggy (Charles) Mabry and Polly (Mike) Stone, both of Shreveport, La., and Margie (Dan) Hay of Oakwood; one sister, Thelma Hazelbaker Soper of Danville; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Estal, Virgil, Charlie and Leo, three sisters,
Arvetta Combs, Florence Myers and Marie Vandslice, and one son, Roger. John
had been employed by Operating Engineers Local #841, retiring in 1987. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II with the 411th infantry. He was a member of the Muncie Baptist Church, and the Collison Masonic Lodge #714 in which he was a 32nd Degree Mason.
