Notes - Joseph Henry Cramer, sr., was born in Maryland county, Virginia, August 9, 1813. His age at the time of his death was 92 years, 8 months and 14 days. He met death at 8 o'clock a.m., April 23, 1906. From Virginia he, together with his father's family, moved to Ohio, and from there to Illinois, where he spent most of his young days. After his marriage to Miss America Cline, he moved to Wisconsin, remaining there six years, then returned to Vermillion county, Illinois, where he spent the remainder of his days, excepting the last four years, during which he has resided with his two sons, Joseph and Thomas, in Sheridan county.
He was united in marriage three times. His second marriage was to Miss Millie Stump, and his third to Maria (Neville) Gimeson.
By his first marriage he leaves three sons, Joseph, Thomas and George, and by his last marriage he leaves two sons, Jesse and William, and two daughters, Lily Herriman and Nellie Skeleton, to mourn his loss. He belonged to the Methodist church. The funeral services were held at the home of Joseph Cramer, April 24, 1906, at 10 o'clock a.m., and were conducted by Rev. F.J. Foster, of Dresden. The body was laid to rest in the Alison cemetery.
