- Mr. James Hubert Ison, 95 of Mercer County, died at the home of his son Larry Ison, Saturday morning, November 21,2015.
Born September 15,1920 in McAfee, he was the son of the late Hugh Fletcher Ison and Emma Minerva Gritton Ison.
He was a retired life time farmer, an a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier for 17 years in Harrodsburg. He was a devout Christian and a active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He graduated from Locust Grove Elementary School, Harrodsburg in 1938. and the University of Kentucky 1942.
He is a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II from 1942-1945, wounded in Italy and honorably discharged with the Rank of Captain 1953.
Survivors include two sons, Larry James Ison (June) of Mercer County, Michael Hugh Ison (Pamela) of Junction City, three daughters, Cathy Marie Knight (Bill), of Raliegh, N. C. Jean DeVean Connatser.(David),of Powell, Tenn., and Sallie Dawn Phelps (O.J.) currently living in Hawaii, He also leftt 28 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eula Lee Rue Ison, one son David Nelson Ison, and one great granddaughter, Christina Louise Meyers.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday November 24, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 110 Ironworks Road, Danville, Kentucky, 40402, Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg,
