    • Martha Wise Gritton Morlan, 85, of Hoopeston died at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at the Hoopeston Community Memorial Nursing Home.
      She was born March 28, 1923 in Potomac, the daughter of George Marion and Anna Myers Wise. She married Lloyd Gritton Sr. on Feb. 17, 1946 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1989. She later married Harrell Morlan on Dec. 1, 1992 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, a sister and eight brothers.
      Surviving are daughters, Pamela (Doc) Whiteman, Deborah Merrill and Sondra (Scott) Taylor; sons, Lloyd Jr. (Beverly) Gritton, A. Dennis Gritton and Shannon Burns; sister, Ruth Peers; sisters-in-law, Vera Mae Wise and M. Jewel Wise; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
      While living in Peoria, she worked at Pabst Brewery. After moving to Hoopeston, she worked at Stokely's and TRW. She and her husband, Lloyd, later owned and operated Gritton's Marathon in Hoopeston for several years. She served in the United States Army from Dec. 7, 1944 to Dec. 17, 1945.
