Emma Jean Norton, 89, of Paris died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, in Paris Nursing Home.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Beverly Olson officiating. Burial follows in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family receives friends for an hour preceding the funeral at the funeral home.
She was born June 27, 1920, in Kingman, Kan., the daughter of Frank and Lucy Vanlandingham Antrim. On Sept. 18, 1943, she married Frank A. Norton in Ballenger. He preceded her in death May 31, 2003. She was a devoted wife, worked as a homemaker, a Sunday school teacher and a first grade teacher's aide. Her claim to fame was her baking. She loved to paint, sew, knit and care for her children and grandchildren.
She was a very active member of the Paris Newcomer's Club, a local garden club and an avid sports fan. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and of its couple's Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alton (John) Antrim and wife, Elmo; and a sister-in-law, Elnora McAdam and husband, Pat.
She is survived by her children, Ken Norton of Denver, Colo., Chris Tobin of Paris and Mike Norton of Boston, NY; six grandchildren, Scott Norton and Greg Norton both of Denver, Colo., Aaron Tobin and wife, Jennifer, of Dallas, Lisa Tobin Powell and husband, Kevin of Duncanville, Joseph Norton and Lindsay Norton, both of Eden, NY; two great-grandchildren, Vincent Norton of Denver, Colo., and Matthew Powell of Duncanville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Named to serve as pallbearers are Robert Bryans, Travis Dodd, Chet Hilyer, Chester Martindale, N. B. Nation and Danny Efaw.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church.
