- Cleo B. Gritton, 87, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Cleo is survived by her daughter, Sharon Schachtner of Fort Dodge; son, Roger (Patricia) Gritton of Tampa, FL;5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; son-in-law, Jim Buchan of Cedar Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Gertrude (Hill) Carver; husband, Paul; daughter, Vicki Buchan; brothers, Paul and Lewis Carver; sisters, Bonnie Reno and Fay Sweeney; son-in-law, Leonard Schachtner.
Cleo Bessie Carver was born August 16, 1924 in Aledo, IL. She attended school in Aldeo and graduated from Aledo High School. In October of 1941 she married Paul I. Gritton. The couple established their home in Rock Island, IL. Cleo was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for a period of time. The family then moved to Fort Dodge in 1952. Besides being a homemaker, Cleo assisted her husband at the Fort Dodge office of the Des Moines Register. Cleo was a member of First Baptist Church and was active in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
