    Charles N. Gritten, 75, of Remington, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in ill health several months.
    Born in Pennfield, Ill., on Nov. 24, 1904, he was married to Betty Davis in 1940.
    He had been employed as a mechanic by Jack Loy Chevrolet Sales and Sinclair Service Station, Reynolds.
    Surviving with the wife are three sons, Don of Wolcott, Paul of Marietta, Ga., and Norman Gritten of Spring Lake, N.C.; two daughters, Vera Largen of South Bend and Audrey Anderson of Champaign, Ill.; two brothers, Aaron of Danville, Ill., and Rumley of Pennfield, Ill.; and four sisters, Mary Leming of Urbana, Ill., Wilma Woller of Paxton, Ill., Winnie Riven of Star City, Iowa, and Pearl Nicastri of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted from Stitz Funeral Home, Remington, at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Jerry Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in Remington Cemetery.

    Remington - Charles N. Gritten, 75, of Remington, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in ill health several months.

    Born in Penfield, Ill., he lived at Reynold before moving to Remington in 1971. He was operator of Sinclair service station at Reynold for several years, retiring in 1971. Prior to that he was a mechanic at Jack Loy Chevrolet Garage at Monon for many years.

    In 1940 he was married to Betty Davis, who survives.

    Also surviving are three sons, Don Gritten of Wolcott, Paul Gritten of Marietta, Ga., and Norman Gritten of Spring Lake, N.C.; two daughters, Veran Largen of South Bend and Audry Anderson of Champaign, Ill.; two brothers, Arron Gritten of Danville, Ill., and Rumley Gritten of Penfield, Ill.; and four sisters, Peral Nicastri of Phoenix, Ariz., Winnie Riven of Star City, Iowa, Wilma Woller of Paxton, Ill., and Mary Leming of Urbana. Ill.
