    Harvey M. Platt, 53, El Dorado, father of Debra Diver of Augusta, died Saturday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
    His service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Southern Baptist Church in El Dorado. Rev. Jack Kinkade and Rev. Marvin Platt will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
    A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
    He was born April 22, 1928 in Fort Scott to Eldon L. and Louise Sharpless Platt.
    He married Barbara Latimer Aug. 21, 1953 in Iola. She survives.
    He was a transport driver for Getty Refinery in El Dorado.
    He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and the LaHarpe Masonic Lodge. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the 1950's.
    Other survivors include two more daughters, Teresa Borger and Donna Platt, both of El Dorado; two brothers, Emmett Platt of Haysville and Marvin of Springdale, La.; a sister, Barbara Gerdsen of LaHarpe and four grandsons.

    Barbara Jean Gerdsen, 81, Rogers, Ark., formerly of LaHarpe, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2015 at Circle of Life in Bentonville, Ark. She was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Fort Scott, to Elden and Louise (Sharpeless) Platt. She grew up south of LaHarpe on a farm with five brothers. She was a graduate of LaHarpe High School.
    On May 22, 1952, she married Wayne Eugene Gerdsen in LaHarpe Methodist Church Parsonage. They lived on a farm north of LaHarpe. Barbara was a housewife, sold Avon and was mother to their two sons Steven and Ken Gerdsen. She was a member of LaHarpe Christian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She also loved to sing in church.
    She was survived by their two sons, Steven and his wife Jessica (Daniel) Gerdsen, Rogers, Ark., and Ken Gerdsen, Junction City; five grandchildren, Danielle, Derek, Dana, Kevin and Kayla Gerdsen; and four great-grandchildren, Hazeline, Jordan, Chole and Jael.
    Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Light of LaHarpe Baptist Church (LaHarpe Baptist Mission on sign). Burial will be at the LaHarpe Cemetery.
