    ..Willard Martin Turner, 78, a former resident of Fort Scott, died Thursday, May 2, 1996, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute. He was born June 24, 1917, in El Dorado, the son of Grover C. and Edith May Hall Turner. He married Dorothy Smith on Dec. 24, 1939, at Fort Scott. He retired in 1976 from the Missouri Pacific Railroad following 30 years of employment as an agent/telegrapher. He was a member of the Uniontown Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rite Consistory of Fort Scott; and Mirza Shrine Temple of Pittsburg.
    ..Survivors include two sons, Jerry W. Turner, Chanute, and James H. Turner, Fort Scott; one daughter Judy Funk, Chanute; two sisters, Violet Chamberlain, Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Hope Colletta, Brain Tree, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
    ..The Rev. Charles Ice, Pastor of the Nazarene Church of Chanute will conducted Saturday at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. The family will received friends at the funeral home before the service3

    ..Jerry Willard Turner, 61, died Thursday, June 27, 2002 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.
    ..He was born April 18, 1941 at Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Willard M. Turner and Dorothy Smith Turner. He graduated from Uniontown High School, Uniontown, Kansas in 1959.
    ..He was the under sheriff for Bourbon County for two and one-half years and then became a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper in Neosho County, Kansas in 1973. In June of 1993 he was promoted to Master Trooper and specialized in the Breath Alcohol Unit. He retired from the Highway Patrol in 1996. He was currently the Safety Director at Consolidated Oil Well Services in Chanute.
    ..His happiest times were spent at home with his family and attending his children's activities. He could always be found riding his Harley Davidson, sitting on the deck or at the pond, working in the yard, or cooking on the grill.
    ..He was a member of the Chanute Church of the Nazarene; was a former Troop-Director and Troop-Representative for the Kansas State Trooper's Association.
    ..On June 26, 1998 he married Karen Kimble at their home in Chanute, Kansas. She survives.
    ..Other survivors include 2 sons, Matt Turner of Independence, Kansas and Chris Turner of Lansing, Kansas; three daughters, Jade Turner of Emporia, Kansas, Jenna and Jerra Turner of Gordon, Nebraska; 2 step-sons, Brett Rollow of the home and Aaron Rollow of Grove, Oklahoma; 2 granddaughters, and 2 step-grandsons; his mother, Dorothy Turner-Evans of Chanute; a brother, James Turner of Devon, Kansas; a sister, Judy Funk of Chanute, Kansas.
    ..He was preceded in death by his father.
    ..Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2002 at the Chanute Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Mark McCuistion officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2002 and on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., both at Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel, Chanute.
    ..There will be a funeral procession Tuesday, from the Chanute Church of the Nazarene beginning at 1:30 p.m. to the Woods Cemetery in Redfield, Kansas where there will be a memorial graveside inturnment at 3:00 p.m. led by Pastor Mark McCuistion.

    James Holman "Jim" Turner, age 64, resident of rural Devon, Kansas, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kansas, following a long battle with cancer.
    He was born January 15, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kansas, to Willard M. and Dorothy (Smith) Turner.
    Jim attended Uniontown schools and was a lifelong resident of this area.
    He married Marjorie J. Byington on July 21, 1989. She survives of the home.
    He worked in the window production industry for thirty-five years. For many years he was production manager, and ended his career as plant manager.
    .After his retirement in 1997, he enjoyed farm life, sports, and tinkering with cars. Several of these cars he fully restored. With his sons, he participated in racing at Mo-Kan, winning lst place at his first race.
    Jim had a gift of making people feel at ease and instantly comfortable. He will be missed by family and friends.
    He was a member of the Devon Methodist Church.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Dorothy Evans, and a sister, Judy Funk, both of Chanute, KS; four children, Shelly Shelton and husband Dale, Tammy Pruitt and husband Terry, Jimmy Turner and wife Candy, all of Fort Scott, KS, and Jeffrey Turner, Joplin, MO; three step children, James O. Grubb, and Laura Smith-Qualizza, both of Fulton, KS, and Joel Grubb, Sr., Radley, KS; five grandchildren, Tara Miesner, Trent Pruitt, Braden Shelton, Landon Turner, Brooklynne Turner; one great grandchild, Morgyn Miesner; and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his father, Willard, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Turner.
    Pastor Phil Wilson will conduct funeral services March 14, 2008, at the Cheney Witt Chapel, Fort Scott, Kansas. Following cremation, burial will take place in the Woods Cemetery at a later date.
    Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Church of God, or to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
