Of these, Edwin T. was a highly respected young farmer of Brush Valley, but he was cut off in the prime of his usefulness, dying April 25, 1897, from injuries received in a run-away, his team getting frightened when they were hauling a drill; he left a widow, Ida M. 3307 Mr. Eddy was the efficient and popular manager of the McCoy & Linn Cold Blast Charcoal Furnace, Rolling Mills and Chain Works at Milesburg. The educational privileges afforded him were meager but as a farm hand he earned enough to pay his way through Dickinson Seminary. At the age of 16 he lay aside his text books and taught school at Lamar, one term at Hublersburg and at Flemington. He also taught at Williamsport. He worked at the Washington Iron Works at Lamar finally in 1872 he accepted the position at McCoy's. For almost a quarter century he has been prominently identified with the businesses at Milesburg. He has been school director, auditor and councilman. He is a member of the Bald Eagle Lodge No 410 I.O.O.F. 3309 Mr. Myers spent several summers previous to his marriage in Illinois. From this time until August, 1886, he lived at the old Myers homestead near Jersey Shore. Since then he has resided on his farm nearly a mile south of Antes Fort. He is a man of intelligence, and from him the author has obtained this information of his father's family. Although a Republican, politically, and living in a district (Nippenose) that is overwhelmingly Democratic, he has filled nearly all the township offices. At present (1894) he is serving his fifth term as school director, and is the Secretary of the school board of Nippenose township. Mrs. Myers is a member of the Lutheran Church. Meyer, Henry (I245)

3312 Mrs. Ada Bobb, 64, Dies At Freeport
Mrs. Ada Bobb, 64 years old, died at Freeport last week, following a long illness. Her daughter, Harriet, came from California last spring to be near her mother.
Mrs. Bobb was a former resident here, her husband being the photographer here for several years. She had continued to own the home and studio now occupied by A. Worwick.
Funeral services were held at Orangeville Saturday at 1:30 p.m., with burial at Orangeville. She is survived by a son, Romo, and daughter, Harriet.
Those from McHenry who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Newman, Mrs. Ted Schiessle, Bertha Schiessle and Mildred Kinsala.

3313 Mrs. Ada M. Reist, 90, Dies At Nursing Home
Mrs. Ada Moyer Reist, 90, 325 E. Derry Road, Hershey, died Wednesday at the Barrow Nursing Home, Hershey. She was the widow of Irving L. Reist. She was the oldest member of Derry Presbyterian Church, Hershey. She was also a member of the Women’s Association of the church and had been a Sunday School teacher for many years.
She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Calvin T. Dunham, Trenton, N.J.; Mrs. Thurman E. Silks, Detroit, Mich., and Miss Claire S. Moyer, Norristown. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

3314 Mrs. Cyrus Snavely
Mrs. Cyrus Snavely, of 336 Schaefferstown road, died at 3:30 o’clock on Sunday afternoon after a lingering illness, the last four weeks of which she was bedfast. She was 56 years, 10 months and 2 days of age, and was a member of St. James Lutheran church. She leaves her husband, one son, James L. Snavely; her father, Emanuel Lash, of Forneydale; a brother, Wilson Lash, and a sister, Mrs. Harry Flocken, of this city.

3315 MRS. DAISY STONE RITES HELD FROM SIMMONS CHAPEL

Mrs. Daisy Stone, a resident of Smith Center from some 45 years, died at Carpenter Manor July 15 after a long period of failing health. Memorial Services were held Saturday, July 17, at 2 pm. from Simmons chapel with the Rev. Gilbert Peters officiating.

Irene McNerney and Betty Chandler were vocalists accompanied by Vi Rush.

F.H. Relihan, Ted Relihan, Chet Bonecutter and John Bonecutter were honorary pallbearers. Active bearers were Terry Relihan, Vaughn McColey, Eldon Stein, Linton Lull, Julius Tillman and George Turner. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Daisy A. Stone daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Fisher Achenbach was born at Avoca, Kans. October 3, 1887 and died at Carpenter Manor in Smith Center , Kansas July 15, 1965.

Mrs. Stone graduated from the Soldier Kansas high school. She became a milliner and came from Wichita to Smith Center to work for the late Agnes Morris.

She was married to Ed V. Stone of Smith Center, in Topeka, May 5, 1920. To this union were born two children, William Robert and Barbara.

Mr. Stone, a Smith Center businessman, died May 13, 1935 and Mrs. Stone added to her other duties by accepting employment with Kansas Power Co. for several years. Later she was employed by the J. M. McDonald Co. in Smith Center.

Mrs. Stone was always a gay, happy person with a sunny disposition. Never letting adversity discourage her, and always looking for the bright side in problems and difficulties.

She was an active member of the Methodist church in Smith Center for many years. She was also a member of the local P.E.O. chapter.

After a period of failing health she became a resident of Carpenters Manor in February 1964 and remained there for the rest of her life.

She was survived by her children, William Robert of Dallas,Texas and Barbara (Mrs. John) Holtz of Bethesda, Md and six grandchildren, Brian, Jane and Karen Holtz and Pamela, Linda and Wendy Stone; and by a sister-in-law and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gehrt of Topeka.

3316 Mrs. Dorothy E. Showers, 57, 601 S. Fourteenth St., died Saturday evening in the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was the wife of George E. Showers and a daughter of the late Ross and Maggie Boyer Stine. She was a member of Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church and its Women's Society of World Service. Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Miss Elizabeth J. Showers, at home; Jeanette A., wife of Marlin O. Houser; Mary E., wife of John W. Tice and Edith, wife of Joseph R. Woelfling all of Lebanon; one son, Kenneth R. Showers, Cleona; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Viola, wife of Lee A. 3317 Mrs. Edwin A. Ziegler
Mrs. Rebecca Ziegler, wife of Dr. Edwin A. Ziegler, died yesterday after three weeks illness at her home in Mont Alto. She was in her 53rd year and was a member of the Zion Reformed Church of town. She is survived by her husband, who is director of the Forest Research Institute at Mont Alto, and these brothers and sisters, Nevin Moyer of Rebersburg, Jay Moyer of Binghamton, N.Y., Mrs. Elizabeth Kreider of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Flora Limbert of Tyrone and Mrs. Sarah Grey of Drums.
Mrs. Ziegler had been in ill health for the past five years and was bedfast for three weeks prior to her death. She resided at Mont Alto since 1909, with the exception of a few years during the World War, when her husband was employed by the government at New Orleans, La. She attended Allentown College for Women and was graduated from the Bloomsburg State Teachers College. She taught school for four years. She also taught a class in the United Brethren Sunday school at Mont Alto. Mrs. Ziegler was a member of the Chambersburg Garden Club.
The funeral services, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Dr. Irvin W. Hendricks, will be held at the home on the Mont Alto Forest School campus at 4 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon. Further services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Rebersburg; burial at Rebersburg Union cemetery.

3318 Mrs. George R. Miller.
Rosanna R. Miller, 816 Columbia Ave., Lancaster, wife of George R. Miller, died Saturday evening in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lancaster. She was 68.

Born in Lebanon County, she was a daughter of the later David C. and Rose Risser Boyer. She was a member of the Covenant United Methodist Church, Lancaster.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, George R., are five daughters, Berry J., wife of Richard Hemperly, Annville: Mrs. Elsie I. Grumbine, Lebanon; Arlene, wife of Charles Frey, Mechanicsburg; Marie Al, wife of Terry Ream, Lancaster, and Sandra J. Miller at home.

Also surviving are fur sons, Carl D., Harrisburg; George R. Jr., Lancaster; James D., Lebanon, and David G., Okinawa, in addition to sixteen grandchildren and one great grandson.

She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Katie Ensminger, Annville and Mrs. Elsie Shoop, Lebanon, and one brother, David C. Boyer, Lebanon.

3319 Mrs. Hannah Risser.
Mrs. Hannah Risser, widow of John Risser, died of a tumor late on Tuesday afternoon at her residence, Tenth and Walnut streets. She had been a patient sufferer for two years, but only recently her condition became serious. She was 57 years old and is survived by the following children: Mrs. Elizabeth Biecher, Mrs. Mary Miller, Misses Hannah, Veronica, Catherine, Laura, Bertha and Jennie Risser. She was a member of the First Reformed church.

3320 Mrs. Katie L. (Risser) Achey, of Annville, died at 3 o'clock this morning, at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She passed her 76th birthday anniversary on May 15th, this year, and was in ill health for several years, but the malady became serious only on Saturday. She was taken to the institution on Sunday for treatment. Mrs. Achey and her husband, Harry J. Achey, were residents of Forneydale for many years and were widely known in that locality. After the death of her husband about 2 years ago, she resided with a niece, Mrs. Catherine Ensminger at 1103 East Main Street, Annville. She was a member of the Lebanon Moravian Church. She leaves three step-children: Wayne Achey, Lebanon; Mrs. Elizabeth Shilling, Cleona, and Mrs. Barbara Bross, Mt. Wolf, York County. M. Viola Ross, wife of Lee A. Ross, 34 Maravian St., died yesterday morning at her residence. She was 70.
Born in Lebanon, she was a daughter of the late Ross and Maggie Risser Stine. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three daughters, Elinor J., wife of Warren S. Hopple, Lebanon; Mae H., wife of Robert w. Ulrich, Palmyra, and Thelma J., wife of Robert H. Goshert, Lebanon; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, George R. Stine and Clarence R. Stine, both of Lebanon; a sister, Christine, wife of Edward Hartleib, Lebanon, and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Horace J. Stine, and a sister, Dorothy Showers, preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Wright, 63, a former resident of Steelton, who died at her home in Washington, D.C., yesterday, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock in the W.S.
