2201 LaNell Marcum, age 88, of Hot Springs, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

She was born on June 1, 1930 in Hope, the daughter of William Sydney McDowell and Cordie B Sinclair McDowell. She was married to Vance Marcum for sixty years, who preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by both parents, five sisters, two brothers, and grandson Van Ryan Marcum.

LaNell was a Baptist in faith. Anyone who knew her would agree that she was a passionate person. There were no grey areas for her. She loved her family; she shared the McDowell passion for fishing; she always enjoyed flowers, gardening, yardwork; she loved garage “sale-ing;” and she was an avid, competitive, able card player to the very end.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, her son and daughter-in-law, one grandson, and one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren, and her sister as well as extended family and anyone with the fortune to call her friend. She is also survived by a very special friend, Charlie who shared his unfailing love, companionship, and support through her final years.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 in the Evening Shade Cemetery at Hope, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers and other customary condolences, memorials can be made to Evening Shade Cemetery in the care of Marjorie Butler at 4512 Hwy 29 S, Hope, AR 71801.
